Copyright

Copyright laws are what protect the work of authors or creators of work that own the rights to the work. If you are not the author, creator or owner of a piece of work you can not re-write, re-publish, or claim ownership in any way for that work. Using someone else's work without permission is classes as plagiarism under the copyright law. However work can used to reference from by saying where the content was taken from for example by using the hazard reference system to write a quote in an essay. If the copyright law is broken there could be possible consequences if the creator finds out about the infringement.

Roles within the Studio and the creation of Studio 109

Studio 109 was formed involving roughly a group of 10 people. We had several roles that need to be distributed between our group. Some of these roles include directing, vision mixing, sound, floor manager, three camera operators and two presenters. To discuss production problems we organised a meeting between our group to go through these problems together, one of the problems was delegating the production roles and what everyone felt most comfortable doing. The roles have been chosen on peoples strengths and abilities to fulfil the roles.

The roles we decided as a team were, Danny Ainsworth as Director. However Ashley took on this role because Danny A had a poor record of attendance in previous modules, Jack Ware was chosen as Vision Mixer as he worked well in previous modules, Nyasha took on the role as Floor manager, Andrew T as the sound mixer, Myself,Luis and Mikeal opted to be camera operators, Erin and Matty were asked to present as they were very good at doing this role previously.

Research

To gather an understanding of how news package shows work and are precisely timed. I will research into existing shows to try and understand the importance of timing, structure and script. As I will be creating a package on buskers I will search on the internet by browsing through various websites to try and gather some ideas for my news package piece.

I need to include the following in order to cover the range of material that are to be included in a news package:

  • Piece to camera
  • Three Vox pops
  • Graphics
  • Voice Over
  • Interview

As my news package is based on street performers and busking culture I will look for packages that are similar, to try and understand how they are structured and the manner in which they are delivered to the public.

As a news package show I would like my piece to presented in similar way. However for my news package I will base my piece on the performers themselves and also support this with vox pops from the public. So will inform the public about buskers and gather their opinions.

Pitch Life Of a Busker

I have been asked to produce a pitch with my ideas for the production, outlining the narrative content, package content and production planning.

In order to introduce my idea to the group I have put together an idea which I will present in the form of a prezi. As i have a keen interest in music I have come up with the idea of of getting in contact with a busker.I will follow this person throughout their busking day. Throughout the day I will gather peoples thoughts and reactions through Vox pops. I will conduct one interview with a busker and  use a peace to camera as an introduction to the topic. I will also use voice overs to narrate the story. I will need to use a Sony V1 and a boom mic to gather my findings. I will also need an extra crew member to help me with this.

My main guest and interviewee will Laurie Dempsey a local busker who busks down Market Street in the Centre of Manchester. I will ask a set number of questions to find out whether performers themselves see busking as begging or as pure entertainment. To gather thoughts from people that do not perform or don't have any talents I will be asking the general public for their opinions on the street performers in Manchester.

I will try to gather an understanding of why street performers are out on the streets. It may just be for pure enjoyment or they may have an underlying background. Buskers may be out on the streets because they are out of a employment, they may need to feed a family or it could just be for pleasure and for a little bit of extra cash. To find the truth of the matter I will be heading out on the streets of Manchester to gather an overview of street performers thoughts and to gather a public prospective on the matter.

Below I have attached my presentation which I pitched to the group:
